Ronald Vaughn Duncan, born April 1947 to Frank and Evelyn Blunck Duncan of Sweeny, TX, passed away March 1, 2022, at Needville Supreme Care with his wife Kathryn Renae Duncan of 42 years by his side. He also leaves behind two sons Ronnie Jr. -wife Laura; Randy- wife Vanessa and their mother and stepfather: Linda and JD Allen; 4 grandchildren; one great grandchild; brother Glenn- wife Lynn; sister Sandra- husband Terry Minshew; many nieces and nephews; and one cousin. He is preceded in death by his parents and sister Patricia.
Ronnie, a Vietnam War veteran, was an explosive munitions expert in the USAF and had a dedicated law enforcement career that spanned nearly 45 years in Pasadena, Wharton, Richmond, Clute, Austin, Brazoria County, and Bastrop County. He started as patrol and worked his way through criminal investigator to Supervisor of CID. He was an instructor and was regarded as a great mentor. Most prominently, he served as Chief of Police - City of Bastrop, TX, and retired as Chief Deputy, Bastrop County Sheriff's Department in 2009. He worked closely with local Bastrop area volunteer fire departments often volunteering on the dozer.
A Memorial Service will be held at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home, West Columbia, TX, Saturday, March 12, 2022, at 11:00 a.m. A Celebration of Life will follow at the West Columbia Civic Center from 1:00 to 6:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to organizations supporting our men and women in blue and local fire departments.
