West Columbia, TX

Rose Ann Smith, 74, of West Columbia peacefully passed from this life on August 28, 2024 at Sweeny Community Hospital after a hard fought battle with cancer.

She is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Leslie; sister, Glenda Marshall; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles, and many friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Glenn & Catherine Yauch, her husband, George Smith and brother-in-law, Tommy Marshall.

Rose Ann began her nursing career in 1970 at Polly Ryon Memorial Hospital in Richmond and then Hermann Hospital in Houston in the OB/GYN department. She also worked at Country Village Nursing Home and Brazosport Memorial Hospital for many years.

Rose Ann was always the life of the party. She graduated from Columbia High School in 1968 and she loved her classmates who were her closest friends and their class reunions and parties.

The family would like to thank Dr. Mohammad Khan and the many nurses at Sweeny Community Hospital for their loving care of Leslie’s mama.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, August 31, 2024 at C T Baker & Sons Funeral Home in West Columbia from 1pm until 1:45 pm, with a graveside service at Cedar Lawn Haven of Rest beginning at 2pm.

A reception will be held for friends & family at Bethel Presbyterian Church in East Columbia following the graveside service.

She will be greatly missed by all her friends and family. 

In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be given to the charity of your choice.
