Rudy Irwin, 94, of Brazoria, Texas passed away on Sunday, December 6, 2015 with his family by his side. He was born on November 11, 1921 to Firl and Thelma Irwin in Throckmorton, Texas.
He grew up in Throckmorton and Albany, Texas and later joined the Sea Bees in 1942, proudly serving during WWII. After the war, he returned to Texas where he met the love of his life, Joy. They married on October 28, 1950, and enjoyed 65 years together.
Rudy was an incredibly smart man (valedictorian of his high school class and college class) with a great sense of humor. He was also a very talented golfer. The only thing he loved more than golf was his family. He doted on his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren every chance he got, always with a smile on his face.
He joins his children, Lauri Webb, Phillip Irwin, and Scott Irwin in Heaven. His parents and his brother were also waiting for him there.
Left behind to cherish his memory and honor his life is his wife, Joy Irwin, son-in-law, Danny Webb, daughter-in-law, Jaqi Irwin, his grandchildren, Janna (& Tim) Moss, Cori (& Robin) Ingram, PJ (& Kelli) Irwin, Chris (& Roxanne) Irwin, Jessica (& Bill) Ramsour, Dan Irwin, Sarah (& Langston) Johnson, Katie (& Alex) Hickman, and Matthew (& Mariah) Tolhurst. He also leaves behind 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson.
Funeral services will be held 10:00am, Saturday, December 12, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria with Pastor Greg Pickering officiating. Burial will follow at Brazoria Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday evening December 11, 2015 at Baker Funeral Home in Brazoria from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.
