Rueben Charles Wleczyk, 71 of Damon, passed away Wednesday April 12th 2017 in Sugar Land, Texas. He was born on January l7th, 1946 in Bay City, Texas to Joseph and Helen (Petrosky) Wleczyk.
Rueben graduated Columbia High School and attended Sam Houston State University. He worked over 40 years with his brother, Michael, at R&M Suppliers, a trucking and construction company in West Columbia. Rueben was a hard� worker, up before dawn in the dump truck and sometimes not ending the day until after sunset.He always said, "When there's work, you have to work! " Rueben also spent nearly his entire life farming and ranching with his family in the Damon area, raising cotton and milo. He enjoyed competing in BBQ cook offs with his nephew and great-nephew, Kenny and Mike, and friends.
Rueben was known for always wanting to help others and never took the word "NO" for an answer. If you just mentioned you might need something, Rueben was there the next day with it. He enjoyed visiting and reminiscing about the "Good Ole Days" with family and friends. There weren't too many times that Rueben couldn't tell you a story or the facts about someone or something. He' ll be missed by many!
A Funeral Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, April 17th, 2017 at Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic Church in Damon with Monsignor Leo Wleczyk officiating. The family will be receiving friends from 10:00 a.m. up until service time. Burial will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Rosenberg.
Serving as pallbearers are Ken Matheaus, Gerald Holik, Billy Menning, Ed Meuth, Dixie McGaughey, and Michael Grogan.
Rueben is survived by his sisters, Christine Riley and husband, Jim of West Columbia; Lillian Slovak of West Columbia; brothers, Billy Joe Wleczyk and wife, Barbara of Damon; James Wleczyk and wife, Gail of West Columbia; Michael Wleczyk and wife, Trisha of West Columbia ; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Dorothy LeBlanc.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be may be made in Rueben' s name to the Central Emergency Medical Service in West Columbia or to Sts. Cyril & Methodius Catholic Church in Damon.
