Sammy Ellison

Sammy “Sam” Gene Ellison, 78, of West Columbia, TX passed away Thursday, October 6, 2022. Sam was born December 18, 1943, in Mexia, Texas to the late Elmerene (Prater) and Samuel Floyd Ellison.

Sam was an avid fisherman and excellent racquetball and chess player. Most of all he was the best husband, father, Papa, and great Papa.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and brother-in-law Dickie McCleney.

Sam is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Ember Merle Rush Ellison, sons Jason Stratton Ellison and wife Beverly, Brandon Rush Ellison, Steven Scott Ellison and companion Jennifer Barger and Justin Brown Ellison, daughter-in-law Michelle Blanshine, sister Sandra Ellison McCleney, grandsons Conner Ellison, Josiah Ellison, and Jordan Ellison, granddaughters Tori Porter and husband Glenn, and Zoe Ellison, great grandson Soren and great granddaughters Melanie and Harper Porter.

The family will welcome friends and loved ones from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, afternoon prior to the services.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, October 15, 2022, at Iglesia Centro Cristiano Church, 114 S. Columbia Dr., West Columbia, Texas.
