Samuel W. Baxter

Samuel Wayne Baxter, 61, of West Columbia, TX, passed away on January 4, 2024 surrounded by his loved ones. He was born on April 5, 1962, in Salinas, CA the son of Curtis and Mary Alice Baxter (Duley). Sam was a loving father and grandfather to his 3 children Brandon (Heather) Baxter of Lake Jackson, TX, Kimberly (Reagan) Grinnell of Leander, TX and the joy of his life, Jacob Baxter of West Columbia, TX and 2 beautiful grandchildren (Layla Michelle and Case Samuel Baxter). Sam was a dedicated individual who worked his way up from a pipeline painter to become the Director of Operations. His unparalleled work ethic was admired by all who knew him.

Sam was a selfless person who spent his life giving to others, sharing his faith, and raising his children. He had a contagious sense of humor and had a knack for making people laugh. To know Sam was to love him. He cherished going on mission trips, supporting the Astros baseball team, and being an active member of the Slingshot community.

Sam is survived by his children and grandchildren, as well as his three brothers: Mark (Audrey) Baxter of Longview, TX, Matt (Estella) Baxter of Abilene, TX, and Clyde (Heather) Baxter of Minneapolis, MN. He is also survived by his former spouse and friend, Dina Venegas and many nieces, nephews and friends. Sam was preceded in death by his father, Curtis Baxter, his mother, Mary Alice Duley, his sister, Holly Baxter, and his stepfather, John Duley.

 Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing on Tuesday, January 9, 2024, from 5-7 pm at C.T. Baker & Sons Funeral Home 634 S. Columbia Dr.  West Columbia, TX 77486 Funeral services will take place  January 10,2024 at 10 am at First Baptist Church in West Columbia, TX.  Following the services, a private burial will be held.
