Sandra Smith

Sandra Lynn Horn Smith, 73, died peacefully in her home on Wednesday, May 18, 2016 after a brief battle with pancreatic cancer.

Sandra was born in Bay City, Texas on October 5, 1942 to Ben and Fannie Horn. She graduated from Bay City High School in 1960 and worked as an administrative assistant for the next 48 years. She retired from Brazoria County in 2010.

The family will host a visitation Sunday, May 22nd at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia from 2:00 to 4:00. Funeral services will be held at First Baptist Church in Sweeny on Monday, May 23rd at 2:00pm with internment to follow at Sweeny Cemetery.

She is survived by her daughters, Kelly Bertsch and husband Mike, Jennifer Porter and husband Mark, Kathy Campbell, and son Roy Joe Smith, Granddaughters Chelsi, Cortni, and Kenzi Campbell, Madison and Kayson Shelton, Royanne Glenn, 4 great grandchildren, loving companion James Boudreaux, and numerous loving nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Sandra was preceded in death by her parents and big sister, Betty Jo Wilson.

Pallbearers are cousins Richard Hood, William Hood, Ken Hood, Michael McIntire, James McIntire, and great-nephew Douglas Walters.

Honorary pallbearers are Lane Keller, Jay Mallard, Gary Hood, and Rich Tillman

The family would like to thank all family and friends that helped with caregiving, meals, or support during this difficult time. The attention and compassion shown has been beyond our expectations. We would especially like to thank A-Med hospice nurses, Margarette and Carolyn, for their compassion. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to the Pancreatic Cancer Organization at pancan.org.
