Sue Sims

Sue Yvonne Sims, 89, of West Columbia, TX went to be with Jesus on Sunday, August 22, 2021. She was born on June 8, 1932 in Montgomery County, TX to Thomas Milton Scarborough and Pearl Fuller Scarborough. Yvonne graduated from West Columbia High School in 1950 and married her high school sweetheart Ladell (Dale) Sims. Their marriage lasted 66 years until his death in 2016.

Yvonne was a talented cook, baker, seamstress and decorator. Her favorite past time was spending time with family and friends. She and Dale loved to play games. Many a night was spent at the kitchen table playing dominoes, farkle, and cards.

She was a long-time member of the First Baptist Church of West Columbia and was retired from CBISD.

She is survived by her daughters Vickie Sassin and husband Ronnie of West Columbia, Tammi Murray and husband John of Horseshoe Bay, and son Gary Sims and wife Dianne of West Columbia.

Nana was blessed with 8 grandchildren: Russell Sassin, Lindsey Carder, Brittany Swain, Chesney Sisson, Brett Murray, Coy Sims, Destiny Sager and Jonathan Kasper, along with 12 great grandchildren; sister in laws: Welda Sims Thurman and Gloria Mae Oswalt; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband and parents, Yvonne was preceded in death by her brothers: Milton, Oliver, Mike and John Scarborough; brother in laws: J.W. (Dub) Sims and James Oswalt.

A family memorial will be held at a later date.
