Sylvia May Stikeleather, a beloved member of her family, passed away peacefully on March 22, 2025, in Sugar Land, Texas at the age of 96. Sylvia was born in Houma, Louisiana. She was the daughter of the late Duffy Joseph Price and Lena Mary Roddy Price and one of seven children. Sylvia is preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Vance Stikeleather and daughter, Carol Stikeleather Dean.
Growing up along the intracoastal canal, Sylvia fostered a love for nature; crabbing and shrimping with her father and siblings. Those experiences shaped her lifelong passion for the outdoors. She loved gardening, cultivating beautiful plants, and ultimately retired with her husband to live on the San Bernard River, where the entire family would come to visit and enjoy spending time with them all year round.
In addition to her love for nature, Sylvia enjoyed playing bingo and was very computer savvy; playing various online games and engaging in social media which kept her connected to loved ones near and far.
Sylvia raised five children before starting her own career with JCPenney. She achieved 32 years of service and she truly enjoyed meeting and helping customers.
Family meant everything to Sylvia. She is survived by her devoted children who loved her very much: son, Wayne Stikeleather and wife Susan; daughter, Patsy Stikeleather; sons Dale Stikeleather and Kenny Stikeleather. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Laurie McShan and husband Clay; Lee Pardue and wife Toni; Leigh Ann Hood; Keri Tucker and husband Austin; Alexandra Galla and husband Dustin, as well as nine great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored.
Sylvia leaves behind a profound void in the hearts of her family and friends who will remember her, not only for her accomplishments, but for the warmth, love, and strength she brought into their lives. Sylvia May Stikeleather will be missed but fondly remembered for the joy she shared and the legacy of love and memories she leaves behind. “Truly a Life Well-Lived”.
