Wayne Petersen

Wayne Richard "Pete" Peterson of West Columbia,Tx went to be with the Lord December 21, 2018. He was born July 7, 1940 to Einer and Erma Petersen in Marlette, Michigan. He was raised on a dairy farm in the small town of Marlette until he graduated high school. After high school Wayne joined the Coast Guard from 1959 to 1963. He spent one year in Alaska and the rest of his years he was stationed in Freeport,Tx. It was during his time in Freeport that he met and married the love of his life, Bronnie Lea Montgomery Petersen. In 1963 he went to work for Dow Chemical Company as a machinist . During his 32 years at Dow he served as a Union Steward as well. After his retirement he went to work for Durametallic (Flowserve) for a couple of years. Anyone who knew him knew what a loving and kind man he was. He always put his family before his own needs right down to his last days on earth. Outside of working he loved working his cattle, baling hay, spending time at the auction barns, and fishing. He was long time member of the Brazoria Church of Christ.

Funeral services for Wayne will be held at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia on Saturday, December 29, 2018 at 2:00 pm with Rick Moore officiating. Family will receive friends on Friday, December 28, 2018 at the funeral home from 6 pm until 8 pm.
Honorary pallbearers are Jamie Williams, Mike Marshall, Lee Cloud, Stevie Moore, Bo Minchew.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 56 years, Bronnie Lea Petersen ; children, Delena Osgood and Robert Petersen & wife, Teressa; brothers, Dennis Petersen & Roger Petersen & wife, Karen; sister, Patricia Davis & husband, Bob; grandchildren, Sammy, Jennifer, & Mathew Osgood, Mindy DeRosser, Zachary & Joshua Petersen; great grandchildren, Toshianna Edwards, Wayne Sanchez, Sean, Mary, Elizabeth, Kaylee, Kholee, & Mathew Osgood Jr; nephews, Randy, Kristopher, Neil, & Blaine; special neighbors Jamie and Marie Williams who he considered family. He is preceded in death by his parents, Einer & Erma Petersen; sister, Roberta Schultz & husband, Carl; father in law and mother in law, R. H. & Edna Montgomery; son in law, Sammy Osgood Sr.; and his loving sidekick, Smokie.

Our family would like to thank the nursing staff and doctors at Chi St. Luke's Hospital and Harbor Hospice for the special care of Wayne in his final moments here on earth.
