William Lonis

William Donald Lonis, 88 of College Station, passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 surrounded by his family. He was born June 16, 1928 in West Columbia, Texas to Thomas Edison and Lura (Wren) Lonis. William owned and operated grocery stores in the West Columbia area for many years, he worked in the oil fields and retired from the Richmond State School as a procurement officer. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict.

Graveside services will be held 2:00pm, Wednesday, July 20, 2016 at Guy Cemetery. Visitation will be at Baker Funeral Home in West Columbia from 12:00pm until 1:30pm. Serving as pallbearers will be Dustin Lacaze, Cody Lacaze, Robert Brooks, Jr., Rusty Lonis, Justin Willey and Tim White.

William is survived by his wife, Nina Danford Lonis of College Station; sons, Russell Lonis and wife, Debbie of West Columbia; William Donald Lonis, II and wife, Rose of Nursery; daughters, Felicia Matura and husband, Dan of Bay City; Donette Harper and husband, Joe of West Columbia; step-daughter, Dralyn Zwahr of College Station; grandchildren, Kim, Lori, Rusty, Bubba, Christy, Robby, Amanda, Mindy, Shawn, Elliott, Will, Staci and Bobby, Marty, David, James and Britney; great-grandchildren, Chelsie, Dustin, Cody Lynn, Kelly, Haylee, Tavyn, Waycie, Cheyenne, Cody Lane, Nick, Jacob, Austin, Colton, Clay, Abbey, Sophia, Brody, Brice, Cannen, John, Malachi and Frank along with numerous nieces, nephews and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents, his sister, Betty Reed and stepson- Dane Danford.
